Toothpaste has fluoride in it. Fluoride helps strengthen your enamel so you don't get cavities.   You actually do not need to use toothpaste.   The point of brushing is to get the bacteria (plaque) off of your teeth.   Some people are more prone to cavities so it is a good idea to use it.   They do … Read more

All of those answers are wrong.  Nitrous oxide and novocaine do not put you to sleep.  Nitrous just calms you and novocaine is an anesthetic used to numb your mouth.  You are talking about being sedated. There are many sorts of drugs that are used for people to go to sleep, the dentist I work for … Read more

You have no control over that.  Everybodys body is different.   Maybe trying to keep the area clean and free of foods and such will allow it to heal better. But there really is nothing you can do. Let your body do its thing.

If you are an adult and your teeth are falling out then you need a dentist to evaluate your mouth. You may have a sever form of gum disease.  Gum disease doesn't just effect your mouth. Yes, you can =) an extra tooth is called a supernumerary.  Some people can get extra teeth, and some people can get fewer teeth then they are supposed to, it's actually sorta neat.  I work in an oral surgeon office and I see supernumerary wisdom teeth all the time. Hope this helped =)

You do need to wait for a while. Talk to your dentist about it,  I'm not sure how hard the procedure was to get your teeth removed. For one, it can cause an infection in your sockets, two nicotine does not help with blood clotting which is what needs to happen in your sockets in order … Read more

The other peron that answered is right. The tetracycline is an antibiotic that is treating the infection, not the pain. If you need to have treatment on that tooth then make sure to get it done otherwise the abscess will come back again after taking the antibiotics.

That other person that answered is wrong. I'm a dental assistant. 12 year olds should normally have lost all 20 of their baby teeth at this age.  They should have all of their adult teeth, besides the wisdom teeth, erupted. Adults have 32 teeth counting the wisdom teeth. So they should have 28 teeth. In some … Read more

No! Do not smoke for a week after an extraction!  This creates a suction in your mouth.  Straws and spitting does this as well. You can get dry socket.  An extremely painful condition where the blood clot is dislodged from the socket and reveals your bone.  This hurts and does not allow a good healing process. You need to go to a dentist my friend. I can't see in your mouth so I don't know how these white patches look.  I would recommend having an oral cancer screening done at a dental office. An eggshell is similar to enamel only in the sense that is can stain easily. Otherwise it is nothing like an eggshell. Enamel is very hard.  In Dentistry we use diamond and carbide burs to drill into enamel. I hope that can give you a sense of how hard enamel is. Hope that helped!
