The word Caribbean, does come from the Carib Indian tribe, but the word Carib comes from the way the sailors who were mostly Italian and Portuguese, pronounced the word 'cannibal". They were Caribs by the Europeans for eating their enemies (including the Europeans) in order to consume their souls.
