Depends on the type of dog..chihuahuas are pregnant for only 58-63 days......not 68 .I hope you got her to the vet to be checked. And a pregnancy xray is ALWAYS a good idea so you know she hasn't retained a puppy when she does give birth.
If you have to ask this you should NOT be breeding her at all.You will end up with a dead mom and dead litter of pups unless you have the knowledge and ability to pay for prescreening tests,pre-birth ultrasounds and/r x-rays....and a possible c-section.Can you afford all that? Are you willing to risk your pets life?
Never ever seen one..have you? But,it shouldn't cost you anymore than a regular chi, except in vet bills.Albino anything usually have a bunch of problems.
Every dog is it's own.I have a dog that came from a 3.3 lb chi and she now weighs 10 lbs!(a bit overweight,I admit, but she normally weighed between 7-8 lbs before I got her spayed)
I agree with most of what Judyann had to offer you, but,as a breeder of Chis,I know they are getting their teeth in by 3 weeks old.I start my babies out on a pet replacement formula, mixed with some baby rice cereal.Real thin at first, then thicken it up.At 3 weeks,I sit on the floor with them and … Read more
Something I need to add to the above answer,is NOTHING ,goes into the dogs crate with them...meaning,no blankies,no newspapers......no bedding of any type.If you put something in there to absorb the urine, you are defeating the entire purpose of crate training.
If you have a pregnant chihuahua, you need to have a pregnancy x ray done....I really hope she wasn't pregnant, because you are/were asking too many questions to have a safe pregnancy..sorry.Chihuahuas need c-sections way to often to have someone breeding that doesn't realize the emergency signs.
Starting at 6 weeks old, they will give your puppy a distemper-parvo combination shot..up to about age 16 weeks.(every 3-4 weeks)
I breed chihuahuas and you can't even tell they are pregnant until about 5 weeks along..and they are pregnant an average of 2 months(58-63 days).SO,I am going to guess at 5-6 weeks you should be able to feel something.
Whelping box?Is this what you mean?Could you please reword the question..I don't understand what it is you are asking..sorry.
Can you move it around a bit?A lot of dogs get what's called a fatty tumor.....non cancerous....
BUT,any lump ,I would take her in to get it checked out.
Chi 5958 said it all,and a lot nicer than I ever could have. There is no teacup anything..no teacup poodles, chihuahuas, etc.I too, breed chis, and people have walked away after I try to explain this to them. She is 100% correct on everything she says.Thank you Chi 5958.
