Because 2 is the whole number so it has to be before the decimal. If you divide 100 into fourths (because it is the denominator) you get 25. 25*3=75. Since the original part of the problem we solved was a fraction it has to be behind the decimal which makes our answer 2.75.
David1967 is right but I would like to add to that. There are some laptops that the adapter wont work with so make sure the adapter is compatible with your computer.
