Or you just maybe had thrush - a normal yet very painful infection. Don't let people tell you it's an STD, as they clearly know nothing.

It may be that they have worms, try deworming. My pup's belly looked like a ball especially after eating and it turned out she had worms, the vet said they are all born with it. Hope this helps!
