answered 6/12/2008 My Female 10-Year Old African Grey Parrot Laid An Egg Yesterday. She Doesn't Have A Mate. Why Would She Lay An Egg After All These Years? Egg laying in birds is the same as ovulating in females. that she doesn't have a mate doesn't mean she wouldn't lay an egg. But she must be happy and healthy or they usually won't lay eggs!!
