I am 55, and single, took care of my son Randy for 10 years after he suffered a spinal cord injury in 1996 untill he passed away on Fathers day 2006. Randy would have been SO PROUD to see Mr. Everett walk onto Oprah Winfreys stage last week on his own after he sustained a spinal cord injury while playing in a football game for the Buffalo Bills just a few weeks earlier! YOU GO SON! I am very proud and Happy for him, I knew if he walked at all would be a Miracle in itself, Mr. Everett was lucky to have the Dr. on scene, who imediatly injected his spine with "COLD" normal saline and literaly saved his life. We have to give credit where it is due, if Christopher Reeves had not had the same injury and brought fame and attention as "SUPERMAN" to Spinal Cord Injuries, and worked the rest of his life "literaly", Mr. Everett would not have been so lucky. So, Mr. Everett thank your lucky stars for Christopher Reeves, My Son Randy Griffin and countless others before you (count it over 250,000 just men in the USA as of July 1996) and of course the Dr. who took a chance on his whole career to save him, I know this for a fact. I took care of my son for 10 years, you would not have liked the outcome if things had not been set in motion for this miracle. Even though it was too late for Christopher Reeves and MY RANDY, I am rejoicing and thanking God for this miracle, knowing they and countless others before him "Did NOT Die in Vaine" The secret is to keep the spinal cord from heating up from the core as soon as possible after the injury and hope for some recovery inbodily function, Mr. Everett if by some miracle you read my words, know this I pull for the Buffalo Bills, thats my team, I don't care who you play for, from now on I am pulling for you and pray your miracle touches others in "our" fight to continue the work to find a "CURE" fore Spinal Cord Injuries. I hope you will pick up the torch in Memory of Christopher and Randy and carry on their work and their Dream to help others in finding the Cure for SCI, God Bless You.
