I'm a teacher at a middle school in a very bad part of Los Angeles, don't know how much longer I can take it, I signed on to be an educator and instead I'm a policeman for eighth graders, it's a very bad situation, the school is in terrible physical shape, holes in the roof, lucky it doesn't rain here much, graffiti that gets washed off every day before school starts, gangs that run through...it's a hard spot to be in, which is why I'm looking for a job in Pasadena, I don't know how I can stay in education much longer, even though it's been my dream to be a shop teacher and show kids how to make things, to be creative, oh, and to coach the soccer team, TRYING to make these kids lives better, but don't feel like I'm making much of a dent in it.
I've got applications in at a bunch of different schools for the fall, but MAN, CA is in such a mess, could be I'm lucky to have a job at all, how did this state get in such a mess? You'd think they would have learned with Ronnie not to have hired movie people, but now we've got Arnold and he's running the state right into the ground.
Maybe I really CAN make a difference in where I am, guess I'd better get an attitude adjustment, right?
