I've been continuously cracking the knuckle in my thumb. I try to pop it probably every 5 minutes.Its really starting to hurt but I can't stop. Can this cause my thumb to break or give it any long term bad effects? (Popped it 3 times typing this)

Cracking your knuckles may injure ligaments and dislocate tendons down the road although some new research is now stating that cracking them may be beneficial by supplying the joint with water after cracking. They are continuing the research on it.
