The 5mm SMC was never a commercially produced cartridge. But yes, it was an extremely fast cartridge... notice the special coating on the bullet to prevent disintegration
wait for it.... at 4700 fps you'll likely blow your gun up from excess pressure. That's what happened at a local range. Saw it... bad bad bad. Gun is freggin useless now. Bolt is fuzed in solid.
Nope. You didn't see that. It was either a chronograph error or you are making it up. No chance a 303 british would fire a projectile ay 5000+fps... not physically possible
The question would need to be more specific. The answer would be different if the question was: "What is the fastest bullet from mass produced ammo" vs. "What is the fastest bullet fired from a rife, those custom loaded included"
oh dear. 45ACP is a slug 800 fps - 900fps is typical at best
Ryan - good research. You are dead on.
The .223 SSM was fast but it was never close to the .220 swift or .22-250.
Yikes, there is a lot of misinformation here!!
.220 swift is the fastest commercially made cartridge in existence as of Sept. 2013. 1.3 km/sec or 4400fps at a constant measured velocity.
The .22-250 can also achieve similar results - 4250 fps
•• it is possible to get both cartridges to push bullets at 4700 fps but at … Read more
