Yes, start purging, no sense packing and unpacking things you'll never use again.
Lay a thin string just under the tape that seals the top of your box.
When you get to your destination... .just pull the string and u should not need a box cutter.
Use a tape gun.
Label every box's contents in detail.
Carry a duffle bag with personal items like toilet paper, prescriptions, and jewlery.
Haven't been on here for a while but here I am again! Make sure you label your stuff (: I moved to college two years ago and it really helped me keep track of everything, but also eased the unpacking process. Bins and boxes store very well, but I found suitcases were the sweet spot in terms of transport but also storage.
Pack a box with towels, soap, shampoo, toilet paper and basic bedding. Pack another one with paper plates, plastic cups, disposable silverware, salt and pepper, and paper towels. If you re one of those that need coffee to function, add coffee and your coffee maker. Either put the boxes in the car trunk, or last on the moving trunk. This way they are easily accessed when you arrive and you can function.
