The water jug should have a exp date
Those large jugs of water which fit onto water dispensers. ..if left sealed, how long are they safe to use?
Bottled water doesn't actually go bad. Why is there an expiration date on a product that doesn't go bad? Certain states require all food and beveragesIncluding Water, to carry an expiration date on its packaging. Some bottled water only carries its bottling date or a 'best by' date. These dates are helpful because the flavor of the water will change over time as it absorbs chemicals from its packaging. The flavor will not necessarily be bad, but it may be noticeable
I totally agree with Ancient One. And if you are still concerned you can always boil it.
We had one that stayed out too long but I believe it was opened so we used it as the water to mix with the antifreeze for the car and truck. It didn't go to waste but we didn't feel comfortable consuming it either.
Ancient One is correct ... As far as he goes.
He mentioned the water absorbing the chemicals of the bottle. But it will also absorb chemicals in the environment THROUGH the bottle, since the plastic container slowly absorbs those chemicals.
So if you're looking for a long-term solution ... Such as storing water for an emergency ... You are FAR better off just getting a filter or water treatment, and keeping those on hand. They take up far less space, and are easier to carry around.
The water is not in natural state. Bottled water has to have use by date.
After time the plastic can leach into the
water causing an array of medical problems.
The thinner the plastic the faster it occurs.
