Does he/she bark a lot?

How old is he, why is he up for adoption, does he need a special diet? We have three adopted dogs. All three were 3 years or younger, but old habits are hard to break. (They can be trained if you are willing to spend the time to teach them.)

Why are you rehoming? Can I have a copy of any vet records? Any special needs? Any previous health issues? Any social issues?

Skully is my rescue and he suffers from separation anxiety. It has made it difficult for us to go out. We have to get a dog sitter.

Skully was rehomed because the original owners had changed jobs and simply weren't home enough. The poor thing spent up to 10 hours in his crate during the day. They rehomed him with someone wo for some reason decided they did want him and was abandoned at a vet's office. The gave him to a rescue and again he was crated. The original owners found out and got him out and went looking for a new home again. The original owners are a friend's son and family. She asked if I knew anyone looking for a male boxer and she sent a picture. I fell in love.

Dog's (Like People) have certain structure they are used to. Their old Pack did things a certain way, and although you are now their new Pack, the adjustment time can throw them off and give them anxiety . . . So ask what normal bathroom times were, feeding times . . . Favorite place to lay in a room . . Likes to be crated and if so how long . . .

You may have to adapt to them and make small changes to align with the new Pack rules ways of doing things.

I'd want to know about any known chronic medical conditions and special dietary needs,

Anything that is upsetting to him would be good to know---thunder, fireworks, etc.

Then he needs to spend some time with my family to let me see him in action.

That has worked for us and all our rescue dogs.

We have one rescue dog that had been adopted and returned 3 times before we got her.  I personally could not have rejected her a 4th time.  We have adapted to her.  And she has bonded only with my wife (one person)---which is not at all unusual in rescue dogs.

-Medical History (Any conditions I should know about)

-Has he/she been spayed/neutered?

-What vaccinations have he/she gotten and when?

-Odd quirks or habits this dog does. Reason being that a change in behavior in a new environment may indicate stress or something else, so if the dog is doing things that are a bit weird I would like to know if it's usual for the dog or new.

-Is there anything particular that this dog likes?

-Does this dog have a bed he/she normally sleeps on? If so, I would ask if I could have it. Might seem a bit pushy to ask for someone else's things, but it's likely that the previous owner doesn't intend to use it anymore and when a dog is getting used to a new environment, they like to have something familiar with them.

-How does this dog respond to other dogs, animals, and people?
