To you, which is better: Being agreeable and likable yet remaining silent when your beliefs would get a negative reception or knowing where you stand and getting your reputation damaged, and which is better for society or the group as a whole?

With enough courage, you don’t need to worry about reputation.

People should be about what makes sense to them, respecting others, but not shrinking from standing up for themselves.

I personally have learned more from those I didn’t agree with. There is value in examining alternative positions.
