When I trick or treat do every house give candy or only the one with Halloween decorations?

In our area, we signal that we have candy by turning the outside porch light on.  💡

Most houses and many apartments have a light by the door. Unless you are in an apartment in a city where the hallways are all inside. In that case, I would go with those with decorations. Maybe you can go with a friend who knows the places to go.

Then they probably have all gone to a more "populated" neighborhood meaning certain neighborhoods get together to compete who has the best decorations and candy, who will get most trick or treaters, etc. If you can find one of those neighborhoods it's good.
