Creepy question! I returned some medicine that Walgreens sold me which was expired. I had my phone in my purse. Never brought it out. When I left the store I looked at it and it said "rate returns at Walgreens" from Google. How'd it know?

If you have the Walgreen's app on your phone and wifi on, it's an automatic thing. That's why my wifi is always turned off.

Turn the wifi off in your phone. I will walk through a mall and if I have my wifi on I will get 6 to 10 advertisement messages from the stores I walk by.

I think that is what happened and it was a coincidence that it mentioned return policy cuz I am here right now at JCPenny portrait studio getting my daughters birthday pictures and it popped up "JCPenny return policy" which I definitely have not ever returned! Lol! So I shut off my WiFi. Thank you for the tip you guys. ☺

Yeah, it's because of the gps on your phone. Geez, companies nowadays are all about promoting themselves and getting you to spend money.

Once I've read an experience where this guy had termites in his house and claimed to have never searched for termite related products/services. Yet, a bunch of termite control ads popped on websites.

Apparently, advertisers may be able to find out about what you "need" by using nearby search results (neighbors may have had termites too), scrolling rate, and anything else you can think of. I don't know about using your devices' microphones, though...that sounds super illegal.
