Since the questions seem to be taken over by the chamber of commerce for Ningbo, lets all ask a few questions to clear it out. I'll start. Have you ever been genuinely afraid for your physical safety?

I served nine years in the Army, and saw live fire on three continents. I've seen good friends killed, been pulled under rip currents with heavy gear and slogged through leech infested jungle for weeks.

On my first overseas assignment, I was a couple hundred yards away from the Marine barracks in Beirut in '83, when it detonated. Unspeakable carnage. 8 days in-country. A baptism of blood.

Afraid? Nothing scares me anymore.

I can honestly say my life and my outlook is better now for the trials I had during those years.

From the streets of the early Bronx, to the jungles of Nam, to the deserts of the Middle East and a few other places I have had several incidents when I really thought it was the end for me.

I almost regret asking this question. The only reason I don't regret is it shows how strong people we know are without ever realizing their struggles. I am saddened, as well as impressed and proud of them.

I agree. I also agree that when one has the strength to speak out about what they went through, it paves the way for others to come forth as well. And I think it is part of the healing process for them. I think with all the light hearted and "silly" questions we like to ask it is a good thing you asked this one. ☺

Yes I have. When I was raped at knifepoint, when I was 19, by my step-father. He was an alcoholic and in the throes of a blackout and claimed he doesn't remember "the event".

This incident spiraled out of control when I realized that I was pregnant by this pig and made the hard decision to have an abortion. The whole thing was so ugly it was hard to breathe. My mother accused me of setting him up - because I was "lonely for my own father".
