My daughter has a bearded dragon lizard which actually has a neat personality and has a sweet disposition. So I was wondering what other not so typical animals make/made a good pet. ☺

Many years ago we had a pet squirrel. He came in the window one day and started eating cat food right out of the bowl. He was injured and we took him to the vet to get checked out. His tail was missing and he had to have one leg amputated. My wife brought him home and nursed him back to health and he stayed with us for many years. I have pictures of him lying in front of the fireplace with the dogs and cats, one big happy pet family.

We had a pet squirrel for about a week. Our experience was not as happy as yours. It would jump onto my mom's hair. which was very long. We rehomed it with our neighbor. Same outcome. They let it loose in the yard and put food out for it. It would come and visit with the men but was afraid of us kids, and the women were afraid of it.

That's so cool. We had to leave a window open for our little guy. He would come and go all day but would always come in for the night and sleep with the dogs. He loved to curl up in my wife's lap too. We had black walnut trees and the kids would shuck and shell the nuts for the squirrel because he had such a hard time doing it himself because of his missing front leg. We would find walnuts hidden all over the house.

I have been told a "hedgehog" makes a good pet, I also have been told many folks are buying birds which is interesting since the purchase of birds has been on the decline over the past few years, at leat in our area of the country.

Thank you so much my friend. (I'm not gonna tell her about the hedge hog.... I don't think the housing on base will be happy with that addition she'd be dragging along! Lol!) She went a little ummm lonely when her hubby got deployed..... there are lizards everywhere! Lol! ☺
