Nope, it's flat.
Who told you that?
Not perfectly round . . . But definitely spherical.
Closer to an egg shape.
This is earth
The concept of a spherical Earth displaced earlier beliefs in a flat Earth
The realization that the figure of the Earth is more accurately described as an ellipsoid dates to the 17th century, as described by Isaac Newton in Principia. In the early 19th century, the flattening of the earth ellipsoid was determined to be of the order of 1/300 . The modern value as determined by the US DoD World Geodetic System since the 1960s is close to 1/298.25
As the science of geodesy measured Earth more accurately, the shape of the geoid was first found not to be a perfect sphere but to approximate an oblate spheroid, a specific type of ellipsoid.
Geodesy, also called geodetics, is the scientific discipline that deals with the measurement and representation of the Earth, its gravitational field and geodynamic phenomena (polar motion, Earth tides, and crustal motion) in three-dimensional time-varying space.
It is an "oblate spheroid". Mainly a bit round but flattened (a tiny amount, really) at the poles.
If I remembered this wrongly, feel free to flame me, I don't care.
Hi there! It is indeed pretty round. This was even mentioned in religious texts that dates back to the 1stcivilisations that the world has ever known! These days, deeper research seems to have proved that this is correct, it might not be perfectly round, but earth is indeed spherical.
