I'd treat it like Blurtit. I'd toss out a bunch of questions, and let the callers play!

I would try and explain cause and effect as it pertains to individuals and their families. I have found in my travels so many people not aware of what is happening around them that is actually effecting their lives and their families. You would be suprised at the number of people who cannot understand that the actions of one nation can seriously contribute to their own personal woes. A simple case in point, I heard the following comment about the storm in Texas while I was pumping gas, "Oh it is their problem it doesn't bother me." I pointed out the storm closed one perhaps more wells off the coast so no gas being processed so that is why they are paying 6 cents more today than yesterday. The reply I received, "that doesn't make sense".
I used to sit and have lunch with three of the techs from the hospital I worked at.
We would pick up a random topic that might be prevalent in the news, and start talking about it. Not to the point of being so serious but more towards making it a much lighter affair then the media has . . . Before long there is comedic flare to our banter that often left us in tears from laughing so hard. I though to myself "What a great You tube show" or radio show this would make.
We even talked about getting together with a couple of beers and a couple of hours to try and recreate this on the weekend, but nothing happened. They all had young families so this was difficult. I honestly think THAT is the type of radio show I would like.
I would have people call in and share great places they've discovered for day trips, vacations, and dining.
I would phone random people and interview them on the radio.
Been there. Spiritual music.
