Nope. Well, not in person. I know online friends, dear friends.
Are you talking spending night in jail or convicted of a crime?
I have several friends and a few relatives who have been convicted and did time in a county jail or a state prison.
As for a few hours, both my brothers. One for drinking on the beach. The other for hitting a mailbox with a baseball bat. In fact at my younger brother's bachelor party all but one guy had been arrested, and same for getting their ear pierced. The one who hadn't done either, agreed to get his ear pierced for if they ran into an ear piercing booth thinking that wouldn't happen, and said he was not going to get arrested. The bar they went to had a piercing booth set up and he was committed. (Everyone knew the earring would come out the day after the wedding.) Then he got pulled over for speeding between the ceremony and the reception. He had received a ticket a couple of years before he moved to Chicago and forgot to deal with because he was focused on moving. When he got pulled over there was a warrant out for the ticket and he went to jail, in a tux tails. It took hours to get him out.
Two of the kids on one side of me and the brother of my neighbor on the other. All were very minor things and only lasted a few days each.
The only one I know, is Otis Campbell.
My daughter did 5 days in county for shoplifting a box of diet pills. It was considered burglary because she broke off the security tag. One of the hardest decisions I've ever made was refusing to post her bail. I told the kids when they were young, you go to jail, you are staying there.
Only Otis
I've known several.
I've never been in jail but I know some people that were.
I have, unfortunately they had dire problems that they didn't survive even after getting out of lockup. It didn't help them and it didn't have to be that way. Sad.
A couple of relatives and a couple of friends. My grandpa was in the Colorado State Pen from 1920 - 1927 for bank robbery. We didn't find this out until the early 90's.
Yes, my sister and my brother.
