Never lived near the ocean. Just thunderstorms, blizzards and a couple of close tornado calls.
Stay safe Otis! I'll be thinking of you. 💨🌧

I haven't. We get the occasional bad thunderstorm but never anything with real high winds.
There's really nothing but calm mild weather where I live. Wildfires are our major natural problem and I won't ride those out. I think I'd be too scared to ride out a hurricane if I lived in a place that got them.
I have been through several hurricanes in the Caribbean and South America. Fortunately my family and I survived. We have had to stsart over a couple times but after the first it is not as hard. Being prepared for such storms is a must. Where we live now we have dodged a couple tornados and lived through a couple blizards and an earthquake. Otis take care, be safe, plan ahead for all possibilities. See you on the flip side.
The system would not let me add a second answer so I am insertingh this here as an Edit,
Otis remember you have a major group of people here who care about you and yours. If, God forbid, you get hit hard and need stuff please let us know. We are here for you.
I have been thinking about you all day Otis. I have been through a few. Matthew was less than a year ago, but thankfully jogged a bit out to sea as it passed us. Stay safe and if your home isn't on high ground, please go to a shelter.
Just very bad thunderstorms with high winds here that almost turned into a tornado. Stay safe, Otis!
We have tornados. One less than a mile away a week ago. In 1994 Tropical Storm Alberto came inland and sit on top of Georgia for days. Horrible, there was so much rain caskets washed out of the ground.
I've been thinking about you today Otis. I hope it does not get near you. Stay safe.
Same as Skip Skip said I'm quite lucky to never experienced a really bad one.
Just tree breaking high winds. A few times a year we get weather alerts for potential damaging winds, hail and torrential rain.
Be safe Mr. Campbell.
I think I rode out two or three typhoons while in Okinawa. For a couple of them they evacuated the base, except for H Company. We got to hide in our Quonset Huts and listed to the storms.
Otis.... I whine when it drizzles here. But we are looking at 110 plus degree weather here Saturday thru Wednesday I believe. Please keep us posted my friend. We are all thinking about you and I'm praying for you. You and Motormouth kitty stay safe.
I've never had to ride out a hurricane here in central PA. Everything was downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it gets to us. The worst I can remember is Agnes in 1972. There was major flooding everywhere. I've been through some blizzards and felt the tremors of the east coast earthquake in 2011.
Stay safe Otis.
Hurricanes and Lightning are a disturbance,
from another dimention.
