Monarch butterflies are on the special concern / endangered list. Have you seen many this year in your area.?

I see a few almost every day. My neighbor has a few butterfly bushes around his property and they really draw the Monarchs.

I can't recall seeing any, but I usually don't. I used to see a few as a kid, but with mosquitoes being an issue in Florida we have spraying done, so I am sure that has effected the limited population that come here.

I have seen none this year, although I have much more butterfly weed growing than in past years.  We have Swallowtails and California Sisters, and some little fellows that are too fast for me to photograph, but no monarchs.

Several years ago, visited one of their winter enclaves on the Caslifornia coast.  Impressive with millions of Monarchs on the trees and shrubs and just everywhere.

As I recall, one was in Pacific Grove, near Monterey Pacific Grove holds a big parade in honor of the butterflies. The other enclave was on the north side of Monterey Bay. I would check on-line to make sure they are still there before taking a journey. Developers don't care about butterflies. And the insects are only there during the winter months.

No, but I've been sick or injured this spring and first part of the summer---mostly stayed in with the air conditioning.

Surprisingly though, the last few years (and this one as well) I have seen one cabbage butterfly that spends time in my yard.
