That is a toss up between English/grammar and math. Communication is important so people can understand you and you understand others. And use math everyday. If I am shopping I use it to figure a sale price. Or of I am cooking and need to adjust a recipe to  that it feeds two instead of four. Or if you need to adjust time because of using a convection oven, or the time in cooking because the portions are smaller.

Math. Math is everywhere. If you're not using math everyday I'll be worried for you.

  • Budgeting your monthly expenses
  • Measuring and tracking the calories in  your food
  • Managing your retirement
  • Using Excel Spreadsheets for work and daily tasks.

I should have paid more attention to math. I constantly am running percentages / ratios / etc. And it's a skill that I struggle with. I also believe English and reading and also most valuable skills to have.
