In the late 1800s, my grandmother was one of the last Taino Indians in the Caribbean and my grand father, a Spanish Soldier went to the Caribbean to find fame and fortune. Instead he retired and became a "cultivator of Plantains". He was introduced to her by a tribal leader and thus began our (personal) history.
My mother's parents met at work. They worked for a wealthy family. My grandfather was the chauffer and my grandmother was the housekeeper.
I don't know how my father's parents met. I do know they eloped to get married and my great-grandfather wasn't happy about it. My grandfather was I think 13 years older than my grandmother. Plus my great-grandfather had a successful business and my grandfather was a delivery person. He thought she could do better. They definitely were in love and I think you can't do better than that.

My grandparents met at the home of a mutual acquaintance. They married in 1912 and had a long, wonderful life together.
Well, to put a damper on everything. You have to know your parents first.
