Do you agree with Darwin's following comments in The Descent Of Man? "We civilized men…do our utmost to check the process of elimination; we build asylums for the imbecile, the maimed, and the sick…Thus the weak members of civilized societies propagate their kind. No one who has attended to the breeding of domestic animals will doubt that this must be highly injurious to the race of man. It is surprising how soon a want of care, or care wrongly directed, leads to the degeneration of a domestic race; but excepting in the case of man himself, hardly any one is so ignorant as to allow his worst animals to breed."

I agree that the animals and plants living in the wild and ruled by Mother Nature are also ruled by "only the strong survive" in order to strengthen their physical attributes.

We humans have larger brains and have developed love, compassion, sympathy and empathy. We have devised methods, medicines and practices to help and enable those with developmental issues and injuries to continue productive lives.

I wonder with the capabilities of science today whether we will learn towards creating a super physical and intellectual species through the manipulation of genes.

I think creating a super human is inevitable. Ethics aside, science is always trying to improve on anything, including our own species.

Well, writers and scientists such as Charles Darwin, Francis Galton, Charles Galton Darwin, Thomas Huxley (Darwin's Bulldog), Aldous Huxley, and Julian Huxley etc wanted THEIR
descendants to be super human, not the undesirables. They wrote about over-population in their time being controlled by
birth control, wars, and disease, but we are now at 7 Billion heading towards 11.5 billion, so I'm sure they will have to find more efficient ways of reducing the population as the old ways are not working, certainly is viable to expect to cure everybody of everything, and let everyone be financially stable or population growth, food shortage and the economy, will be an
even bigger problem.
