Recently a Delta flight carrying a US service person's coffin, landed in Chicago. The pilot ask everyone to stay seated 4 times until the coffin was removed. The people got up and started for the door. Since people have no respect it seems. What should the pilot have done different?

He should've kept the people that didn't listen on the plane for an extra half hour after the coffin was removed and give them a lesson on respect.

I think from now on when there is a service person's coffin onboard, the pilot should announce it but tell them the doors will not be opened until the coffin is removed.

That is what should have been done.

Unbelievable. I guess the only other thing was to tell them to sit their asses down because nothing was going to be unloaded, including themselves until the service member was properly taken from the plane.

Thankfully my husband or I weren't on the plane. I don't think either of us would have not gotten up to yell at the lot of disrespectful people.

That's terribly disrespectful. As captain, I would keep the doors closed and guarded until the coffin deplaned.
