Count me in, but I'm gonna need some food.
Despite the rampant idiot spammers and the grossly indifferent "moderators" I intend to stick it out here on Blurtit, this friendly little community is worth standing up for. Who's with me?
Hippy's hanging? I'd better hang too. There's room on the tree for a few more. '
Sorry to be a bit boring, everyone. For this site to survive it needs to be commercially successful.
Nice as he is, Tim O'Shea cannot reasonably be expected to fund our little group of "chatters".
The site makes money (or so I was told a few years ago) by people, who are not "logged in members", who stumble across it through Google searches when asking questions online. They are then directed to commercial websites.
Blurtit then earn money from those referrals. (I'm sure Tim will correct this if I have misunderstood).
For the site to survive and prosper, therefore it needs usable content. The stuff that people need (or want) to know. Perhaps for school, exams, higher qualifications, business development etc.
Now, let's all take a look and see how many questions (and answers) recently have fallen into those categories, and how many have just been our "little community" "chatting" to each other.
How many times did we all say (including me) "Do your own homework"?
How many times did we ignore the difficult questions and they were left unanswered? I'm guessing the questioners never came back.
Anyway................
You know, Toxic, you're right, there is no reason for us to abdicate to non-participants who have no real role in the discussions here. The hell with them.
Count me in. A pox on the spammer scumbags!!!. ☠️
I'm hangin'.
Blurtit is my new addiction after sodahead closed a couple of summers ago... But... I may never stop using it because it just feels like home unlike other sites i've tried.. Although, i am starting to like a site called answermug.
I'm all in.
All I'm saying is .. Im still here .. Spending less and less time here, but nonetheless still here.
The spam is just sooo frustrating to weed through.
Me too.
Even though I get frustrated with the excessive amount of spam and lack of full time moderation, it's the community members that keep me here too. As long as they are here, I'm still in.
I've met a lot of nice people here over the years and seen many come and go. I like the people here that I've gotten to know some and will return here and there but just not as much as I used too. I have a couple of projects I'm working on and a couple of other sites I'm on also. Thank you for putting up with me and hope things work out here for you all.
Piecemeal presence
I am still here for now . . .
I will most likely look at what Rooster is working on though as well.
I'm with you. I intend to stay put.
😄
If something isn't broken, fixing it seldom adds to its current quality.
So now it seems just a question of how much damage will be done.
There are plenty of indications that things are already not going well.
And continuing to go forward is not always the best decision.
Well will see.
I'm still in, even though the spam is frustrating as it seems to be taking over the site. I don't like how prolific the spammers are. According to the chat today, it looks like Tim now sees the problem and hopefully this will be fixed.
Since Rooster and Angela left, we can now see how much work they did on a daily basis to keep Blurtit spam-free. I don't think you can put a price on their diligence.
I refuse to leave unless the site is completely overtaken by spammers.
I am sticking around. It my not seem like it lately, but I have been really busy lately and have been starting my day running more often than not.
I like it here, too, great website for questions & answers. But sometimes I'll pose a question and it won't appear here, and so I think I'm doing something wrong. Right before the send-off of a question, we are asked which category it falls under: I usually have to tick "Other". Could this be why?
I like to be upbeat so my questions are never offensive, so that' not why. It's happend at leat twice that my question gets aborted.
Never happens with my answers, though only questions.
I'm online during European day-hours -- does this have something to do with it?
I'm sticking with it.
