The stereotype of teenage girls....
Asians cant drive... Im sorry
All stereotypes are based off some level of truth, they just don't fit into everyone of that group.
The stereotype of teenage boys.....
Fathers are more judgmental on the boys their daughters date and Mothers are harder on the girls that their sons date.
As Tris Fray Potter pointed out, a stereotype is just a type of category, (and not a particularly good one at that): a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.
Do you mean a stereotype that is true, or an instance where you saw someone or something fit a stereotype so well to the point of being funny?
I'd have to say that there is no stereotype that proves to be completely accurate.
In the late 1980's I was sitting in an Heathrow Airport Lounge when two passengers turned up and sat down. They were middle-aged, over weight, one of each sex and wearing combat fatigues.
I turned to my assistant and said "Who travels like that?" He looked back at me - "They have to be South Africans, you've seen all the homesteaders on the TV, surely?"
"Nahh, that's just a stereotype, nonsense!"
They both got up to go to "Departures" when the Johannesburg flight was called.
Sure. Here's a photograph of a stereotypical Australian riding home from work. Female roos are preferred for the convenience of carrying beer in their pouch.
Most men would rather get hopelessly lost than ask for directions .... Bless their hearts. :)
