What makes Western culture much different from Asian?
Depends on which part of Asia you're talking about.

I think it has to do with the philosophical approach to life; in Asia the tradition of immersion in Confucianism, Tao, Shinto (Japan), Vedanta, the ancient Sanskrit traditions...when you live from that really different perspective on life.
