I spent some time in a cancer clinic back in 2010 (still have to go back for regular checkups) and met a few unforgettable people while I was there, so I understand exactly what you mean. I wish her well, terminal doesn't allow much hope.

That's not fair to commit this only to an individual but let's say my girlfriend.

My girlfriend. Oh, I remember another. My 6th grade math teacher. He threw his chair on a student once. The guy had a temper alright. Would get his panties in a bunch every time a kid asked a question about any exercise. I don't know why but I still remember his name and what he looked like.

The mere fact of passing away doesn't change our assessment of a person. If he wasn't worthy of respect in life the act of dying doesn't really change anything.

I still do, I don't know why.

I reckon the guy who had the chair thrown at him remembers him well.

My 6th grade elementary teacher, Mr. Williams. He introduced me to astronomy and fossils which have become lifelong passions for me.

It's great to have a teacher like that. Mrs Didge spent a year of her childhood living in a country town and she had a teacher who regularly conducted their lessons out in the school yard where he brought in all kinds of lessons from nature. She loved that guy and said she learned all kinds of things from him.

Mr. Williams lived a few houses away from me and we became lifelong friends. He had a huge telescope on the flat roof of his house and it was a gathering place for kids and their parents alike.

No argument there, Rex. Even so, I've known people with so little personality that they may well have forgotten who they are.

Tris Fray Potter Profile

My current best friend.  In primary school, before we knew each other existed, there was always this girl at all the inter-school events that both our schools were participating in.  She always had long sleeves on her school uniform, which is extremely weird considering where we live because it's so hot, and it wasn't part of the school uniform that the other kids from her school would wear even in Winter.  We, my primary school friends and I used to wonder who that weirdo was who wore long sleeves.  She was kind of like a celebrity in the more academic circles at school.  Anyway, we met for real in grade 8, our first year of high school because she was (still is) in my homegroup, and we've been (almost literally) inseparable ever since.

That's great, Tris. Reminds me of the night I first laid eyes on Mrs Didge. It was a fancy dress Christmas dance and she looked HORRIBLE. Still, she was pretty good when the disguise came off. :)

My friend Micah. We have a bit of a rocky past, but we pushed through it. We have pretty much the same humor, a lot of our thoughts on certain topics are the same, etc. He's really amazing and fun, he can always put a smile on my face. I miss him. We don't go to the same school anymore, but he lives pretty close to me. I just miss seeing him everyday..

Sounds as though you've had some great people in your life. Sorry about your parents but kudos to the aunt and uncle. That's a great thing to do.

BTW go have a look at the Storybook question again. Your answer appeared in my notifications but failed to show up on the page. I copied and posted it under my own name and Rooster is onto the problem now.

Thanks, David. My mom is still living but she's off the wall with mental illness and has no contact with any of her children. My father died right after my son was born. So essentially my son has zero grandparents. My aunt and uncle have been gracious enough with their time and energy to be surrogate grandparents to him.

Doesn't really too much talent to hit a pig skin. I have no interest in the Royal Family. Who came out in 1988 was it Prince Charles?? How are you & laptop dog??

No idea, HS. I don't follow the royals. Smacks too much of sycophancy.

I was never fast, Roxanna. I competed in a lot of triathlons and marathons but, as fit as I was, I got involved in a club event one time when there was a 100 metre sprint. My legs didn't know what to do. I tried to go fast but I was just too uncoordinated. 10 km runs or marathons are a lot easier for somebody like me.

Treasure your speed. it's a gift. :)
