I always use my mother and grandmother's remedies first, because they are all natural. ( For fevers and coughs that last longer than five days i would consult a Dcotor because it could be serious) I also have a few Native American herbs i use. My Mom used to swear by Elderberry for colds and respiratory ailments. My Grandmother used to put honey in and on everything (she said it was her magic cure all) I still use it today for a lot of things. I love passionflower tea, it has a calming effect for me. Great for after a hectic, stressful day. I like to pop Zinc at the first sign of a cold. I think it lessens the duration of the cold. I also take a multi vitamin daily and drink lots of water with lemon/orange slices in it.
Vicks formula 44 nitetime
Gingerale
And yes whiskey or shine by my mother prescribed
Tumeric is a good alternative for Panadol/Nurofen. Warm honey and lemon is also very good. Lots of oranges and gargling salty water is good to do instead of using a throat losenger.
We do the warm salt water gargle for mouth/throat ailments.
Also for my kids, if they can sleep 15 hours or longer then their body fights off the bug.
7UP for tummy aches.
Hi
Dalia! We do use plenty of home remedies in case of sicknesses and I need to
admit that they all have the expected effects! Doctors that I have personally
consulted also agree that homemade and Ayurvedic cures work as well as any
other treatment. Most of the grandma potions that we have are plants or roots
based. Chinese medicine is another pretty effective alternative!

If I'm sick, chicken soup always tastes good.
