I know this is strange, but the only time my Chihuahua licks her front legs is at night when we go to bed. She crawls under the covers with us and goes on and on. Sometimes for 30 min or so. It's driving us crazy - what should we do?

A dog will normally lick continuously for two reasons: allergies or just because she finds it relaxing.

Have you noticed any sore patches on her legs at all? Does she ever chew them? The fact that she only does it in bed at night suggests to me that it is a comfort/relaxation thing for her but I grant you it is annoying!

My Chihuahua climbs into bed with me at night too, I have no idea how she doesn't suffocate under the bedclothes, but she has been doing this all her life.

She also likes to lick but in her case, I am normally the object of her licking obsession, which is rather annoying when I am trying to get to sleep lol.

One thing I would suggest is getting some bitter spray and spraying that onto her legs before bed. Hopefully she won't like the taste and the habit should be broken in about 10 days.

You might want to check for allergies to be sure, I'm wondering if the washing powder that you use on your bedding is affecting her. It sounds like the solution to this problem will be very simple, so you should be able to get some sleep very soon - good luck!
