Geometry is used a lot in everyday life, yet many people don't even realise they are using it.
Decisions based upon shapes and measurements all relate to geometry, and the world around us is filled with examples of geometry in practice. I've given a few examples of them below.
Geometry in everyday life
- We use geometry a lot in home improvements, where it is to calculate how many buckets of pain we will need to paint a wall, or to determine if a piece of furniture will fit through a door.
- All of the buildings and structures we see around us will have been constructed using geometry.
- Geometry is used in everyday life when we need to calculate something in relation to shapes and spaces.
- All of the items in our home, and even the packaging our food comes in will have been influenced by geometry, whether that was to determine if all the crackers would fit in a box, or when designing a table.
- Many people use geometry in the workplace, for example architects and builder.
