Why Do People Close Questions After Receiving Only One Answer?

I think I might have closed after one answer. And the reason I closed was because the situation changed and I didn't need to know any more! I have seen a few questions where it seems very evident that the questioner was in a flurry of anxiety and then apparently didn't even read any answers, or maybe they suddenly saw sense, who knows?

That annoys me as well. I have seen some great questions i would have loved to answer but because they close it  i can't. But the trick to that is to just leave a comment under what some else has said if you really need to get a point across.

I see you left your question open. I detest when they close them after just one answer. To me they are saying 'I got what I wanted to hear, and I don't want to hear anything else about it." (or read) I feel like they think we aren't worthy of answering what they want. Cheated of an opportunity.

Not doing to well today, I have no clue why they close so soon.
I am trying to rate and keep up, but not doing to well right now.
Its my sons BIG B-Day and I need alot of rest to evem make for the family gathering tonight at my Daughters.
But I do agree ..Some our kept up when people get going on others.
But their our alot of posts to read/ and rate that was their acouple of days ago?

Well many times people get one answer, don't get anymore answers, and blurtit closes the question. This makes me really mad because I like to get as many answers as possible!
