The issue of customer support is a killer question; for making promises about the level of customer support is incredibly easy, actually delivering on them is another matter entirely.
So how do you distinguish those companies most likely to live up to their promises - and your expectations?
First of all, use your judgement, if you've been in business for any time you will have developed a gut feeling. Instinct alerts you to those intangible signals that indicate an over-eager or inexperienced sales rep working on commission-only. So look beyond the sales hype for clues on the type of operation you are dealing and how they are structured and funded.
How knowledgeable does the sales department appear? Are you getting straight answers or jargon to your queries? Is everything you are told clear cut and definitive? Are the sales department asking questions to learn more about your business needs?
If the answers to these questions are in the negative then proceed with caution.
