I imagine that your brake light might be burned out. This is not uncommon, especially if you have not replaced the bulb on your Elantra for the past eight years. You should be able to replace the bulb at home within around 10 minutes, provided that you have an appropriate screwdriver. You can get a new bulb at any auto parts store, as well as at most large hardware outlets, like Canadian Tire--if you live in Canada. You will have to unscrew the old lights by opening your trunk and going from there.
