Is It Too Late To Prepare My Poinsettia For Winter Bloom?

I've had it in an east window since winter and it is lush and healthy, but what now? It is also leggy...can I take cuttings first, or is it too late to trim it back?

Poinsettia re flowering is boosted if the plant is to keep it in total darkness between 5
pm and 8 am. For optimum results this practice should be initiated by October 1st
and continued until color shows on the bracts that will probably be in early to
    mid-December.

Thanks Juliaa! I guess if I cut it back now it wouldn't have much time to grow back, so that's out. Should it go back in bright light during the daylight hours, or should that be dimmer now too? It was in full bloom when I got it, so I don't know the steps taken to bring it there.
