Get a copy of XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) on CD and install it on your computer, it adds a ton of device support. If it doesn't work after you install SP2, follow these steps:

    Right click "My Computer"
    Pick "Properties"
    Click the "Hardware" tab
    Click the "Device Manager" button

Look for the category of "Other Devices" - should have a yellow question mark next to it.

Open "Other Devices" and see if any thing is listed. If so then right click on the devices and pick "Uninstall". Reboot and often it will install the device correctly.

If the system complains that it doesn't recognize the hardware, see if you can find the manufacturer disks/CDs that came with your computer. Insert them and let Windows search them for the software to support your wireless card. You may need to call the manufacturer to find the correct software for your wireless card.
