I never thought about adding an image to a question (though I've added some to answers). The big advantage is for those people who want to get opinions on the appearance of the thing they're asking about. F'rinstance, "Does anybody know what this symbol means?" That's very useful.

I think its good for new users who ask questions under anonymous. If they get good answer replies, from us, they will probably come back here without the anonymous thing on and join the community.

You are allowed to answer your own question when extra details are necessary to give clear understanding.

Tyto is right about it being completely anonymous. But what I've found over the years is that over 50% of the anonymous questions are either commented on by the asker or in some cases answered by the asker also. I see it almost every day.
